Hey, How About a Kudos to PCGS Thread?

I just got my check in the mail from PCGS for the PR66CAM Quarter they fingerprinted. Way to go! And Thanks, that was very quick -- I showed it to Hall at his "show and tell" in Long Beach and 2 weeks later I got my check.

I dropped of my first submission to them at FUN and as advertised the coins were back within 30 business days and graded what I thought they would grade them. No surprises, kudos to PCGS.

I don't have a problem with PCGS as a whole. They have made me scratch my head a couple of times, but for the most part, I'm very happy with what they do.

Well, sometime last year (or was it 2001?) I did them to "un-bodybag" a few coins I had bought in their holders and cracked out over the years. Miles Standish was nice about it and quite accomodating. image

Boy, did this get lost quick, TTT, just so some of you don't think all I do is bash PCGS.

C'mon, someone else has to have a PCGS did right by me post. -- where's that Kool-Aid kid when you need him.

I for one, am not a big submitter, maybe spent between 35k and 40k with them each of the last 3 years, hopefully this will increase this year. But even though I am not a large submitter, I still get treated well. I continually hear about bad cs, but have very rarely if ever experienced it. Every person I have spoken to in cs, accting and bulk has always been on top of things for me.

For this I say Kudos to PCGS.

Call me an a**kisser if you would like, but I have been very blessed the last few years in my business and PCGS has been a big part of that, so I don't have a problem giving credit where credit is due.

  • I guess I COULD say a few nice things, but I'd much rather whine. Besides, I don't want to get a rep for being a sycophant.

FrattLaw, good going. I know PCGS "lost" a Registered package of mine -WITHIN THE WALLS OF PCGS- (not the Post Office!) and they were quick with a check. I'd rather of had the coins though as one was a magnificent rainbow toned proof Franklin.

I wonder whatever happened to those coins?

I'll congratulate them when I see my submission is finished... The coins are fantastic so I know the grades should be equally nice.

    Here you go Michael.

Maybe I should bump that in light of recent events.

This is true, I'm not making it up just so I can say nice things about PCGS.
I bought a 2000 Pop Report years ago and never got it. So I call PCGS and the girl tells me they shipped it a month ago. I tell her I never got it so they shipped me one.

I do not submit coins to PCGS or anyone for that matter so there are no complaints there at all. The communication I have had with them has always been taken care of in a timely mater so there are no complaints there either. When buying coins I buy the coin and not the plastic so again no complaints.

Damn I wanted to whine a little. OK I do have a PCGS coin that appears to have a finger print. But as I said I buy the coin and not the plastic and I missed the finger print when the coin was bought. Damn guess that was my fault also. image

Good question! How do they determine the size of the check? Is it by the PCGS price guide? Average street price? What you declared what the value of the coin was when you submitted it?

My check was for the grand total of $66.00

I have no idea how they got that number, but since I only spent $5 on the coin and $15 to grade it. It's a positive $46.00 in my favor.

Not to complain again though, I think if they mess up your coin, they should also refund the cost of grading or give you a freebie. If I paid $66.00 for the coin and spent another $15 for grading, I'm still losing out on the deal.

But I won't b*tch -- this time. imageimage I did get the check in two weeks.
