Should obverse of Platinum Eagles be redesigned?

With current events what they are should the obverse of the Platinum eagles now contain a different version of Lady Liberty?

Liberty was used on our coinage, before we had the statue.

I like the coin as is, if they changed it, I wouldnt mind. What I would like to see is your idea applied to the dollar coin.

I am not talking about Liberty herself just using a different version of her. The version on the Platinum eagles is from you know where.

We had "Freedom and Liberty" before we were given the statue from "you know where."

Oh, missed your point at first. Well, I don't know. Politics is differant than gratitude. Also, how long can idebtedness last, and under what conditions. France, in many peoples opinions, is acting stupid. Now if a war happens, and France continues to support Iraq with supples, weapons or weapon components, and then, god forbid, acts with agression towards the U.S., and it's allies, then we need to give it some more thought. But Ultimately for me, it's historic, and a national treasure. Spite gets us nowhere.

Leave it alone. The Statue of Liberty is our greatest symbol of Liberty. It does not represent the current views of the French governement by any stetch of the imagination. Their gift to us is still welcomed, as Lady Liberty has been the guiding light for billions of people throughout the world. Let Freedom Ring!

I like the SOL on the obverse. I'd love to keep it that way. However, a different angle than straight-on would be nice.

Just because France and Germany is taking a stance garnered by a large majority of Americans that this "conflict" is wrong is not a sane reason to change any of our coinage.

As a veteran of another unwarranted war Viet Nam, I applaud their stance. I do feel strongly that France should not supply weapons to Iraq that will kill Americans sent to war to satisfy Bush's agenda. I feel, I must say I support 100% American Servicemen that are serving our country, even though IMO our actions are unwarrented. But that's their sworn duty.

North Korea is or has developed a nuclear bomb and if that is not a weapon of mass destruction I not sure what is. Bush considers this matter a regional issue. Not sure I follow his logic.

The Platinum is a beautiful coin. The fact that the Statue of Liberty is a gift of the people of France is an historical point that does not shape the powerful connotation that statue has for us and the rest of the world (and it's nice to have something around to recall better times and better relations with the French too, BTW).

If we do anything with the plats, I'd prefer creating another serious of gorgeous reverse themes, like they just completed in the proof series.
