What's this guy been smokin'...er, uh his coins with?1

Funny how this seller has about 60-80 coins across 5-7 series and they are all toned the same way.

Hmmm!!! I wonder what that means?!?

Yeah, I think I remember someone posting that this is easyman (or something like that) reincarnated after a NARU under the other account.

    OK, let me revise that.

    1. Morris, read his most recent feedback.

    2. Click the link in that feedback to see the auction at issue. Take a good look at the subject coin.

    3. Click here.

Sorry for multiple posts. I just keep clicking and there was news at each click. It took me a few to come full circle even though it's a small circle.

Russ (compucheap) , he must use borh to tone his coins - what did the ones you bought smell like?
  • RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
    sinin1,

It smells like burnt almonds. Uh oh! I guess I shouldn't have licked it!

It is possible that all these coins were bought out of an old estate wherein they were stored for years under exactly the same conditions???

I just sent him an e-mail asking how those coins got to be that wild color? I'm curious what the response will be.... image

Yeah, and the estate is so large that it takes three different eBay IDs, bbycoin, easyman168 (now NARU'd), and tonecoin2003 to liquidate it all.image

    Bwhahahahahaha!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I E-Mailed the seller and asked him about his AT coins, and got this response...

<< <i>HI, I DON'T KNOW HOW THE COINS GET THOSE COLORFUL COLORS. I BUY AND SELL THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE PRETTY. >>

    Marty,

That's almost word for word what he told me back when he was using his easyman168 handle.

Couldn't do that. I knew precisely what I was buying, he packed it carefully and shipped it quickly. I bought knowing full well that he's cooking the coins, and he fulfilled his obligation to me as a buyer by completing the transaction quickly and professionally.

So, morally, the most my conscience would allow was to try and warn others - who might not have the benefit of the knowledge at this forum - when I posted the feedback.

  • I sent an e-mail to him asking just how those coins became so beautifully toned. I was asking as if I was interested in buying and this is his response:

Bag toned, yeah right, maybe in a bag full of WD-40 and baked at 550F for 12-15 hours....what a rip off

HI BOB, I THINK THEY WERE BAG TONED.

Wow, I'm new to coin collecting, how do these coins get this type of toning? It's an awesome coin! What makes them turn that color?

He is leaving information out of the whole story

I buy and sell them because they are pretty ((( good markup and profit margin )))

He must make them in a bag ?

Russ, do they really smell like almonds?

Maybe we should try grinding up almonds and put around coins before aluminum foil and potato.
