MONSTER "make" there Todd. I'd say about $4.200. Though this Registry thing can get out of control. You may get REALLY lucky at next year's FUN auction. That is where I would take it, were I in your shoes.
Yea DCAM, I had a coin at the fun auction I would have been happy to sell directly to a customer for $1,500. It brought $4,200 and I was really happy. Told my wife about it and the next thing I knew we had a new couch. Easy come, easy go and I need to keep my mouth shut.
Just for fun one day go through 100 1971 proof sets and let me know how many DCAM nickels and halves you find. The probablity is very high it'll be a big fat ZERO. I wonder how many tens of thousands of proof sets were looked at to find those 7 coins.

Ditto. Whenever I hear comments such as Jeff's about the '71 proof coins, I know it's coming from somebody that has little experience with that year. There's a reason there are only four nickels in 69DCAM and only 17 halves in 69DCAM. They are very close to impossible to find.
Beyond the fact that two sided cameos are virtually non-existent, the year is plagued by all kinds of other problems, most notably rampant planchet flaws. The mint was VERY lousy in 1971.
Wasn't that the year that Panama Red came back in town?

It all comes down to supply and demand. If there is pent-up demand for a relatively rare coin, the fact that a new one is made and comes on the market shouldn't significantly reduce the value of the remainder. If everyone decided to dump at once, the price for each of them would likely be lower.
There are one or two collectors who need this coin, and they don't come up often.

OK, I feel like a "know it all" and have been put in my place.
I couldn't resist. I remember from a year or two ago Carl mentioning that he had one of the three graded in his set. You going to be at Grapevine in a few weeks?
Thanks for the link Keith! I appreciate you remembering that.
I bought a bunch of low population Jeffs several years back. At the time I was thinking more will be made and I might be wasting money. Todd here is the first one to make a top '71-S in many years (Congrats!). All my 50s DCAMs increased too, but only by 1.
I'm not in first place anymore but at least I have one that BNE doesn't have yet!! I just love the early camoes he does have.

Does your new one make mine worth more or less?
Someone already did. Carl's got it in his set.
I don't know if it makes it worth more, the same or less.
