My opinion on the new policy for the board

I believe most people who are saying that censorship this and censorship that are taking the censoring that will take place a little to hard. Do we know what they will or will not censor? I believe people are making the issue WAAAAAY bigger than it needs to be.

What do YOU think about this?

oh and by thr way here is a pic of a cool coin

  • I think they are wearing clueless like a badge of honor. They won't respond to the questions about the banning any more
than they replied to the death coins, and for the same reason.

We really don't know what's going to happen. They yanked a few popular members to get our attention and it certainly worked. If they edit out the trolls when they get out of control that's ok with me. If they edit for language and exceptional bad taste that's ok. If they edit if you don't follow the PCGS view of the world than I'm outa here. I have a wait and see attitude and am hoping for the best.

I predict in a few months everything is going to be back to it's dysfucntional normal existence.
  • The new normal existance will be the PCGS party line. Where do we go to be good little borg?

I think the people on this forum are way, way too independent in their thinking to be assimulated. There will always be critics of PCGS. That doesn't mean they are PCGS haters. I owe a lot to PCGS and do like their product but if I disagree I will say something and not expect to be edited. If it ever goes that far where they do censor critics than this board will become a wasteland.
  • If a persons total purpose in posting on this forum is to bash and slander the company that is hosting it, then I think there is a legitimate reason to ask that person(s) to take their message elswhere. In reading Halls message, it seemed to me that they would still tolerate constructive criticism.

I personally thoought some were going out of their way to blast the host and for no good reason. It may have been an instance where these folks were simply not educated with regards to businesses and the problems with growth and expense control.

It was easy to tell those who had management experience or dealers who ran their own companies, for they understood the problems of "Just hiring more graders", etc. The name calling was likewise uncalled for.

    << <i>They yanked a few popular members >>

the exact number was 2, according to mr. hall. whether they were popular or not is subjective, but i don't particularly recall being offended by either of 'em.

jbsteven, I'm with you on this one, agree with what you said, and believe that both a member's cumulative contribution to these message boards, as well as any specific abuse, will be evaluated in order to determine if a specific post is abusive and/or a poster has a pattern of abuse.

and agree that that is a VERY cool coin. Here's another rainbow coin you might like, it's a 65 shot 66 and on it's way to a major grading service:

I think meaningful content is WAY down. Doesn't seem like this helped turn the Forum toward more quality posts about coins. If it is true there were lots of "big" dealers complaining about what was being said here, then wouldn't it be nice if they would join in with "better" content? What say you? image

I guess it depends on what one considers "meaningful content", I personally enjoy all civil discourse,
especially pictures and discussions of the nuances of coin collecting and grading,
and only ignore the kinds of childish carping that seem ill-intended or full of agenda.

dcam, I agree that the many dealer lurkers need to step up and talk instead of listening even though they do not contribute to the boards they get a say so about the forum.
