Actions speak louder than words

It is so true, actions speak louder than words. The actions of David Hall, banning good posters without warning, impacted my thinking toward PCGS more than any of the so-called "bashing" I've read on these boards. And really, I cannot think of any outright mean and nasty (even from Greg) full-on PCGS bashing. I come away from these forums knowing people have amazing respect for the company.

This action has disgusted me! Mr. Hall, I think you've done more damage than the worst of your detractors.

Respectfully,
Coindaughter

imageMaybe we could get a reply from Carol or David on these reasons! They should start a thread, with a no reply clause, to let us sit back and think things out. I haven't a clue about what was said or done to warrant this action, but an answer would be nice!
It is akin to certain threads that wanted everyone to jump onboard to help Stuppler, but as yet no response as too why this action is taken against him. I cannot support any issue without an explanation.

I think we all need an answer before we criticize the reasons for this action.
A list of names would also be helpful, but let us all hope we get a response soon!image

I'm blown away by the banning of members, especially those that were paid members and whose membership fees paid for access to the Board and Forums. I sincerely hope that Mr. Hall refunded their membership dues with notice of the ban. I checked the membership agreement and there wasn't anything located in the agreement about termination of the agreement based upon comments on the forum.

I'm also blown away by the fact that he had the greatest focus group available to any CEO/President and he just ignores the complaints and problems. Other companies pay large sums of money for feedback that he had been provided for free. Most large, well run companies want to know how their product/service doesn't live up to their customer's expectations. CU/PCGS just wants to bury their collective heads and hope that by banning detractors, their own internal problems will become less apparent. I challenge Mr. Hall to post a Mission Statement to the PCGS Forum and pledge to his customers, members, bashers & detractors, that PCGS will strive to be a more consumer oriented company and live up to it. Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen, though.

With all the recent mangament departures, this company has been and will continue to be in a nose dive until "they get it." (in Hall's own words) I suspect that there's some chuckling and smiling going on in Florida right now, the door is apparently opening for NGC.

  • I think it's absolutely terrible. But this follow's HRH's pattern. Either ignore and if that does not work ban them is the "management tool" that HRH employs. With CU stock trading a $2 and dropping, a good business person would make every effort to put his company in the best light possible, increasing shareholer's equity. Or is HRH looking for a large tax write-off. Actions like this is counterproductive.

If you want to see a successful business model just stop by NGC. Maybe HRH can take some time off and go through the NGC Management Training Program.

NGC has banned a few members too, but they post the reason for that action. The only banning at NGC is a result of posting/sending pornographic pictures, profanity etc. and they post the reasons plus give the poster 3 strikes before they are out.

I'm sure NGC is applauding the latest actions of HRH, positioning themselves to take over the #1 position. HRH you might consider taking some management courses at the Community College level, not quite ready for University level courses.

like i said before, they are already #1, by most measurements. i don't particularly consider that a compliment to ngc, just an observation.

Very well said CoinDaughter. Extremely well said!! Absolutely AWESOME!!

I don't believe this one of those "it will blow over" actions. This will definitely have a long lasting affect.

I don't know how you can do that - HRH has never had his pm on and the icon isn't listed in his posts.

  • Well said CoinDaughter.

Hypothetically speaking, if some company had a CEO that acted very much live I've seen HRH act these last few weeks, I'd seriously question to what extent I wanted to transact business with them.

    Just hypothetically speaking, that is.

As I can't know exactly what happened, I'll reserve judgement, but I would like to make a couple observations.

Someone said HRH should publicize why this occurred. I am also curious, but, if I and another member have a dispute, I post, then the other member posts, then I post to try and justify my position, what would you say about me.

Someone said no warnings were issued; I can't say they have or they haven't.

Frattlaw, when I joined the collectors club, membership dues were the same price and I was never made aware of the forum as part of my membership. I really think it was an added on benefit, just like access to the pops w/gold and plat levels.

tgilliam says "banning" is the HRH model; HRH is relatively new to the PCGS pres position and forum activity.

Yes, I'll miss Greg (really don't think I know dakra) but I don't know if the threads WE SEE are the only basis for his ban.

This doesn't necessarily apply to Greg, but, there are quite a few people who could brush up on interpersonal communications; after a while one gets tired of being put down, no matter if it is deserved or not. My kids pluck my nerves quite frequently, but I refuse to continually berate them -- not because they are kids, but because they are human.

Finally, (for now anyway image ), many of the NGC Forum members are the same people from over here, many of whom I have come to interact with and respect. Why is it when I log on over there some of those same people talk about this forum (the membership is the forum) as though we personally are responsible for their greivances? And look at the praise that is being heaped on the NGC CEO - as though he is singlehandedly running the place. Now that was ass kissing in this forum. Oh, and HRH should attend a community college because he isn't ready for a university???! If that isn't an unjustified personal insult, I don't know what is.

Presently, all I can evaluate is one-sided stories, hypocrisy and disloyalty (to collectors). I'll reserve judgement.

Carol and David love me. Why? Because I am fair and honest. I speak the truth. I have often said that PCGS is the lesser of all plastic evils. That's a compliment, by the way. ClausLerch ance LincolnSenseLess are just afraid of saying what's really on their minds. I bring life to this forum. I purposely provide provocative remarks so as to keep threads alive, but in the end (if you are literate), you will see that I am only trying to better our hobby. I love coins. Period. Even HRH would tell you to buy the coin and not the slab.

  • I almost never agree with FrattLaw on much of anything, but on this topic I sure do. I would like for PCGS to bring Greg back (now there are more "Demon" icons then every anyway!).

Besides, do people really have to fear being thrown off these forums if they want to post a valid complaint? That really isn't very fair. I understand if someone threatened PCGS or something, but geez!
