Wouldn't being a grader drive you nuts?

Someone posted their submission results, and I was thinking how tedious it would be to sit there all day grading coins.

66,66,66,67,66,66,65,66,66,67,66... <lunch> 66,65,66,67,66,65,66,66,67,63,64,66,65,67...

or how about grading a ton of statehood proofs

If that was my full time job, it'd be hard. Thankfully, though, I can do it recreationally!
  • Yeah I know I have to take a break after an hour of looking thru coins.Eye,back strain. image

Pennies make dollars, and dollars make slabs!

....inflation must be kicking in again this dollar says spend by Dec. 31 2004!

  • yeah I'm sure being a grader is tedious but imagine all the awesome coins they get to see, If I was a grader, grading one 1943 copper would make up for all the state quarters I've graded all year.

I think it'd be hard. I have a lot of respect for those guys. I don't have the skills to do it and I have Attention Deficit Disorder so after about 16 coins I'd be staring at the wall. Can't see how they can grade over 1,000 coins a day and stay accurate and consistent. I'd be consistently innacurate.

I also think after looking at coins all day, every day, even a 1943 copper cent wouldn't get my blood pumping. After grading 100,000 Morgan dollars I can't see getting excited about one even if it's a 1893-S in MS-67. Maybe if it was an 1893-S MS-67 DMPL. You'd have to be dead not to be blown away by that non-existent coin.

  • yeah, it'd be hard to do a job where you get nothing but grief . . . .. .
