Mercury diagnostics

Does anyone have a pic or can recommend a site that would show the diagnostics for a 21 and 21d Mercury. I would
like to learn what to watch out for to avoid counterfits, altered versions of this coin. I'm not a slabbie so I need to
rely on my own knowledge which isn't all it should be yet.

Wont be long now.........
Sorry I forget the member that showed us that altered `21,asking for a grade opinion.
He didnt say anything about it being altered and a bunch of us,me included, totally missed it.
Still trying to get the egg off my face on that one.......and the other one....I dont wanna talk about it.
Also the 2 in 1921 is different that any othr 2 on a Merc.

bring with me a couple of slabbed ones and I'll give you a brief tutorial.
Brian.
I do not have the picture any longer. It was a 1941 that was altered to a 1921. Beside the mentioned obverse date problems the reverse was the type seen from 1926 untill the end of the series. It was a dead give away that the coin was altered also.

enough in this hobby. I've looked high and low for the PCGS book but it is out of print so I guess I'll be hunting ebay
to try to find a copy. I'll look for the other book mentioned.
