Comments

  • with all the Morgans, i'd get a VAM book and become familler with some of the varities. It's hard to tell with just the date and MM.

feel free to ask any of the Morgan experts around here if you ahve any questions.

    Sthartman,

Looks like you have quite a collection started. Without knowing the condition of the coins, or your collecting goals, it is hard to do much other than generalize, but if you could tell everyone a little more regarding your collection and your interests, I expect you can get some quality help and advice here. It appears you have a real fondness for the big silvers. I think all collectors share your fondness whether they collect them or not. Cool piece of US history, and pretty coins. I think Teresa de Francisci is prettier than Anna Williams, but that's just me.image

sthartman - Without some idea as to grade, there's not much that one can respond to your post. It would be somewhere between extremely difficult and completely impossible to give you any information with date and mint mark alone.

Grading your own coins shouldn't be all that difficult. Get the pocket size paperback put out by the ANA on grading and read it. With the number of coins you have, you should learn to grade them. Don't go with the expensive services for your grading until at least you do enough homework to figure out whether the coins would be worth it. "Haven't had any of them graded," would mean to me that you haven't researched how to do it...and that should be your first step at this point.

You got all the easy ones. Now you need the ones from the 90s & the CCs.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • There isn't anything I could tell you that those that posted before me didn't. You have a nice collection started there, keep going and enjoy.

Ditto to ANA grading guide and PCGS grading guide.

The Van Allen book (VAM) is a comprehensive guide to Morgan and Peace Dollars and the die varieties
    attributed to both series.

    Brian.
  • You have an 1892-S and a 1921 Peace dollar...both of those are tough coins. Good start.
  • Ah! Thanks WingedLiberty.
