How many "raw" submissions any more ??

I'm curious...how many of you all who submit a lot are submitting raw coins ?? By that I mean ones you acquired purely raw...not proof/mint set or other slab crackouts, not crossover or grade jump attempts...and for purposes of this question...not "modern" stuff that you're cherry picking out of mint and bank rolls.

I would say 80% of my submissions are raw. For moderns they are pulled from proof/mint sets. The last 2 orders of Morgan's game from a collection I bought.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

For ultra moderns, it's usuallu not worth it to look thru rolls. Mint sets can have the best stuff.

For quasi-moderns, a fair amount, probably 75%, is raw from rolls or I purchased individually.
  • About 95% of my submissions are raw from coins I buy at shows that I think are truly exceptional and the dealer doesn't. I can't tell you how many 66's and 67's I've purchased raw as 64's and 65's. The other 5% are already slabbed and sent in for crossovers.

We are finite beings, limited in all our powers, and, hence, our conclusions are not only relative, but they should ever be held subject to correction. Positive assurance is unattainable. The dogmatist is the only one who claims to possess absolute certainty.
