Would you collect coins if they were 10 times more expensive?

It seems to me that most of us would collect just as avidly and spend just as much money (if not more) if ALL coins were 10 times as expensive as they are now. Of course, many of us would collect different coins than we do now, but we would still collect SOMETHING.

Would you?

Only if my income was 10 times more. But I would probably not collect much. Just a token thing here and there of antiquity. If I had not returned to coin collecting, I'd likely be doing some purchasing of antique (as in ancient, before 400 AD) items here and there and spend more time learning and mastering Greek than grading. In fact, I may take a break sometime from spending on coins and head back to the greek books.

Probably, but not nearly as many. Too many other good investments out there to risk that much money in coins.

No, if they were 10x the price, I would only own a token coin or two. It is barely affordable as it is.

  • Yeah, albeit in a much lower grade.

I'd have to compete with Braddick for the lowest graded sets. image
  • They already are 10X more expensive, and I'm still doing it, so I imagine I still will be when they're even 10X more than now image

Nope, I would oversee kit car production again, more peeps with money in that hobby. Just something about a custom build that turns my key.

Yes, only I'd collect smaller coins... 1/10th the size of the coins I collect today. image

No, I would first sell all my coins and tell my [former boss] a few phrases he probably never heard before and shout yipee, i can retire thanks to the person who paid me 28,000 for my matt proof 67 buffalo or 67,000 for my 92 S barber half in 66 etc...etc...etc...

Be honost, most of you, if your not already rich would do the same thing!!!

Only if beer cost 1/10 of what it is now. Then it would all even out.

people collected coins when they were 1/10 of the prices they are now, and I suspect they will still be collecting them when they are 10x current prices. Of course, which kinds one can "afford" will continue to vary.
