    It's a polished AU. Not a proof.
  • Tough to tell from the pic but it does have a sharp strike. The lapel looks a little weak as Lange's book says. I'd say better than 50-50 chance you scored.

Sorry Dan- not even a chance. It's a polished MS as Greg stated, no doubt.

The fields right up to the devices are the giveaway. Buffed to appear better than it is.

I said it is a polished AU for several reasons.

As for the AU grade, there appears to be clear wear on Lincoln's shoulder and the wheat stalks.

The rims are not squared like a proof. They are very rounded. The last T in trust is not well struck.

There are rim dings and contact marks. These aren't usually found on proofs (but not proof that it isn't a proof).

I hope it is a proof, but I have a strong feeling that it is just a polished AU. Let us know when it arrives.

I'd have to go with the general census, looks like an cleaned business strike, raised portions just don't look like proof strike. Square rims, date, and the TRUST definitely is not struck like proof.

If you haven't sent the money, just tell him that you have been lead to believe the coin may not be proof, and that he should at least guarantee it is at least proof, I think ebay states that the seller must deliver on the item titled and described. Which it is described as a proof, so he should have to deliver a proof.

    good luck

The seller says "PROOF or just PROOF LIKE".

Don, I'm far from an expert, but from what I see of the picture, it looks like a business strike to me. The 1936 Satin is truely a scarce coin with only 200 or so graded by PCGS. I'm sure if the seller thought he had the real thing he would have had it slabbed and gotten $500 for it. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck. Steveimage
