Nice, 62 is a very under-appreciated date. Finding a really nice one is a very difficult task.
in over 10 years, Ive seen one in MS65 that I liked. I now own it.

This one is only a 62 or 63 but when you pay melt for a coin you can't really complain about the grade to muchimage

    That's a fact. I have a Raw 63 that I paid melt for. I swear it's a lock 65, and a shot 66.
have a good handful of really nice raw Franklins that I'll send in someday.

Its a series that is still underappreciated and many have a hard time grading them.
I love the series. Rick Tomaska's book is a must for every Franklin collector.

    Looks better than a 62 or 63.

Assuming the luster is there it looks like a solid 65.

That chatter on the cheek, is it contact, or incomplete metal flow?

I'm thinking it's contact, here is another picture that shows the flaws a little bit better

Here's a PCGS MS-64 frankie and it looks much cleaner than the 1962

put me down for the 62/63 camp.

I think 65 would be very optimistic, to say the least, and could even justify AU58 for this piece.

still, awesome score at 2 or 3 bucks, it's probably worth $10 or 20 for the eye appeal, to the right buyer.

I would grade the coin 62.

A little dip and that ugly toning will be gone.

I dig it Daddy-o! I like that type of toning.... I can't call this one a 65, I'm seeing to much chatter on the obverse, mainly Fankies face.. However, this could be a ms64, I like it, and it sounds like you got it at a super price. Excellent buy!!!!!! At that price, snatch em all up!

how do you think it happened? album toning?
  • LucyBopLucyBop Posts: 14,001 ✭✭✭
I'm not sure, album toning is a good suspect. It is rare to find these coins toned in their mint set package.......
And the toning is much nicer then what MadMarty and his potatoes can produce......
