Strange looking mintmark on 1932-D Quarter

I love the toning on this coin but the mintmark looks rather lonely with that "halo". Could it be glued on? It is in a NGC so that is some comfort. Any thoughts?

I know the seller and have bought from him before w/o issue.

That is weird, I know if it were not slabbed there would be a firestorm of comments about the authenticity of that coin.

I have a PCGS MS64 32D and it is similar in that there is a slight depression around the mint mark - which is very tall in comparison - I believe this is a telltale of a "real" 32D - the tall mink mark which is common to one of the dies used....I recall there being 2 or 3 different dies. This is atthe fring of my 32D knowledge - no doubt others know more but I just wanted to add what I recall.

One rule about 32-d quarters...if the D looks fake its probably real!

I also have one that appears to be from same reverse die. Halo around mintmark, same placement and size. Only difference is it's graded Good-4 LOL Try not to be jealous, please hehe

That's a legit 32D. The mintmark on those coins looks pretty miserable as a general rule.

i agree it's genuine. i have a well-worn 1935d washington that came in a circulated roll where the D mintmark looks just like that - it stands out like a sore thumb.
