    Hi Ken,

Nice strike for a 20-P, way too white for you! I'm guessing MS65FB. I'd lean on you for it, but I already have a nice one.

  • That looks like a nice full strike to me! Cool.

Surprised it only got AU-58. It looks very nice, especially for an AU coin.

  • Very nice coin, Ken. But alas, it is too white for your collection. Send it my way and I'll see that it is properly taken care of. image

    TJ,

Is it your opinion this coin is AU or do you have additional information? My poor grading eyes would think that it is a 63FB. Lack of knowledge never keeps me from having an opinion.

    Ken,

Nice coin, no matter what the grade. The obverse does seem to have some things going on there that would keep the grade a bit lower IMHO.

I think a 64 with small friction... (in other words AU58 if PCGS was having a bad day)

  • Ummmmmmm a 63 Fb. Nice strike but a lot of marks.

    It's a well-struck coin, but with some marks. If there's no rub, I'd give it a 63FB. With rub, I'd go AU58.

Its a MS coin in a AU slab. I see No wear period and No luster breaks. The coin does have handling marks from very poor storage. A MS60 coin IMO. BTW from now on all of my files will be labled MS70 or higher. image Sorry for the late reply but the forums were the pits for a couple of days.

Weird, because I just got back last week an indentical piece same date, looked to me MS-63FB, and I'm finicky....guess what? AU-58.
Yup, but as I practice what I preach, I won't argue for reasons self understood at this point image
I noticed some of us Merc Folks opted with a 63FB or 64FB so Ken for starters its nice to know some of us are getting better at grading, while its difficult to tell that much from a scan, if your piece is similar to mine & I suspect it is, in days by gone it woulda been 63-64FB.
Of course you can always send it in to ACG image

Marc back in the early 80's I would have paid 63 money for the coin. Now I still would pay 60 money for the coin if it was needed for some reason. The grading companys have really helped the collector in the Real Grade aspect of the hobby. Heck I still see this type of coin at shows being touted as a 63 coin. Sadly I just shake my head and walk off.

    Pat,

I wish you luck on getting the grades you hoped for.

Also, good luck in getting them back from PCGS before summer.image Their turnaround time sucks lately.
