    congrats on that gift grade,

Looks like it's graded consistently with most other slabbed early coppers. What's the problem with that???

Letting that go must have been like parting with a national treasure.

We are finite beings, limited in all our powers, and, hence, our conclusions are not only relative, but they should ever be held subject to correction. Positive assurance is unattainable. The dogmatist is the only one who claims to possess absolute certainty.

  • I like the definition of the chain. Thanks for posting this image!

WOW! Now that is nice. I would grade it AU-50, but the grade is not an issue here. Unreal. Incredible. Beautiful.

You gave the design kudos, not the coin. If you don't agree with the grade, thats cool, there are plenty of ways to convey that without getting nasty. Your statement reeks of jealousy and anger.

    an awesome example!

you know, how when it's really rare and desireable, they say, "throw the price guides out the window!"?

well, they're talking about coins like this.

    Whether it's a 55, a 50, a 45, or even an AU53.5 (my vote), the exact grade only matters

WHEN YOU HAVE SEVERAL OTHER BRACKETING EXAMPLES AVAILABLE to comparison shop.

If one had a steady supply of chain cents to choose from, they could say, "oh, this PGCS 55 chain cent is not as nice as these PCGS 50 chain cents over here, see them all?"

some coins, you can just up and order in any grade you can afford.

coins like this one, you have to either jump on it and pony up what it costs when offered, or you have to keep waiting...

I have wanted one of these for over 40 years! I don't know how you could of sold such a wonderful coin... Although I think PCGS was optimistic with the grading...
