    Hey Don,

I just got my face slapped too. This is about the worst submission results I've ever had with PCGS. In the future, I'll just cut them a check and keep my coins at home.

Gilbert, were yours raw, crackouts or what. What grades were you expecting?

    I wish it were.I paid $30 a piece.The 1940 has the most beautiful bullseye toneing you'd ever want to see.The 1954 was a crackout SEGS PR68.The 1950 is 1 of thirteen,with 8 higher.The PCGS price guide value $1,400.I have $100 in it.

Same here (slap). Regular service, all raw, expected at least three to grade 64, and honestly, there recent acquistions I sent in a month ago and can't remember which one I felt may only grade 63. I also thought the '80/79 was prooflike too.

Heck, if all 63s look like these I would buy more of them. I honestly don't usually do 63, except for a limited few varieties, so I don't THINK my expectations were that far off.

I wonder when I can expect to see my submission graded. Maybe if I'm lucky, next month.

Condolences on the grades ... more power to you, but you have to wonder how economy submissions that arrived two weeks after yours are being graded and you are still waiting. Jan. 31 and counting on my last submission. imageimage

Don- I sure understand the mixed feelings. But, wow what a coin that '50 must be! I've seen some beautiful cents that wouldn't go into their DCAM holder. I'm sure you are quite proud! image

Mine is 1/22. I tried to time it so that I would get them back before the ANA money show. Oh well... Probably won't be done even when I get back 12 days from now!!! ARGH.

I'd like to know how they are kicking moderns out in the same time frame as they always have, but now they have pushed classic economy submissions back to a ridiculous 50 business days. Could it be they are trying to get you to pay $30? No, that couldn't possibly be happening could it? image

You bet ! I have done some checking with the help of Doug Wright. The sale of the last (3) 1950 PR66 DC were $6,038,$8,915,$12,075.The last was March 1st,2003.There are only 13 graded as high as mine. There are (10) PR66 DC and there is (1) PR67 DCAM that Stewart Blay owns. The PCGS price guide says mine is worth $1,400 and the PR66 DC is worth $2,400.I don't believe either of these figures are accurate.

Pretty clear to me. I felt that was the case the very first day they mentioned the 50-day expectation.
  • One out of three ain't bad. Especially if the one is a '50 DCAM Lincoln!!!

Well, I think it is going to have the opposite effect of what they desire. I am not renewing my Collector's Club membership, and all coins that I want graded under $300 are going to NGC.

Don't worry about when they'll get done, my Economy submission was handed to them at FUN on 1/8/03 and has yet to be graded. I was hoping to pick it up at Baltimore but that is now looking unlikely.

Same here. I made that decision about a month ago. Even got a submission ready to submit at the money show to NGC.

Tom- And they haven't been graded yet? David Hall was here a few weeks saying it was 50 calender days, now we know that is a load of BS. I'm sorry, two months plus is just not acceptable.

Neil- I will be at Charlotte if you want to hook up sometime.
  • Merz, How did you manage to pick up a 1950 DCam for $100?
  • nwcsnwcs Posts: 13,386 ✭✭✭
Eric, sounds good. Are you going to the grading class? I'll be there. I remember Dheath said he'd be there, too. I'm going to be there bright and early on Friday for the show itself. Mostly for parking reasons. image Probably spend the day there. My brother works not too far from downtown so he may pop in around 4PM to look around. He's a collector as well, but not doing much with his collection right now. I've been looking forward to it since November!

Are you sure some PCGS employee didn't just walk off with them? imageimageimage
