81 topps

Guys,

Saw something very interesting this week with 81's...Cut card cases...My question
is to anyone that know how are these packed...Do I have a chance of pulling some
gems for I don't see it possible for if they are anything like vending it's a waste of time...

Also anyone sitting on a hoard of 81 raw mint commons interested in getting rid of them
email me at rmorse@accn.org...I'm finally within 100 cards or so...

Thanks, Matt

  • I've noticed those cut cases also. I believe they are a case of cards cut from only one sheet. If you buy the case, you will only get 132 different cards. It's important to know which cards are on which sheets. Usually the seller will state this in their auction.

    Matt,

I remember buying cut card cases at the end of the 85 and 86 seasons. At the time, they seemed like a pretty sweet deal because of the price to volume ratio. And at the time, "mint" meant something a little different than today. But, the cards were stacked almost like a vending case (but without the blue boxes).

You'll probably be able to pick up some winners, but you'll also get a lot slightly dinged, I'd think.

    Frank,

Thanks, I think I'll pass on them for the outsides of the cases are pretty banged up which
leads to being dropped and so forth..

    Thanks again, Matt
  • There were some "cut cases" from 1968, 1969 and 1970 that recently surfaced. The majority of these cards were really nice so I'm told. I only saw a few (about a hundred) of the 1970's after they were graded. There were some 10's in there. The rest were 8's and 9's. I'm not sure how many different cards there were in each set. You can probably find out by scanning the pop report.
