I'm afraid, I'm very afraid, with my recent unemployment, my wife is getting me into watching soaps

Someone please shoot me !!! {LOL}
Anyway looking at this hobby from the perspective of someone sitting [for now] on the sidelines sure makes me appreciate it more because of the wondeful things i've been learning here from listening to other collectors and dealers.
Things like how you got started in the hobby or the coins you wish you baught but didn't or coins you baught but wish you hadn't or ones that
you sold that you wish you had kept.
I will admit that after being out of work a couple of weeks with no end in sight because of health issues has fueled the desire on my part to become a small time to bit dealer because some people that know me and have seen my coins say that i have a good eye for nice coins. It would be an intersting thing to try but i'm not sure i have the guts to take the risk and i also don't have the cash but every day that goes by that i wait for another doctor appointment I find myself thinking about giving it a try if the people i know want me to do it for them, i just might take a stab at it.
I think i'm going to ask the advice of some local dealers i know and some collector friends at the Northwest show this weekend what they think.
Maybe dealer wannabe isn't the right word though because i couldn't buy a coin for someone i know and not try to buy the most eyey appealing coin i could find and would probably want it for myself and i sure couldn't charge a huge above cost commission to someone i cared about. God, some dealer i would make feeling that way!!!
One reason i'm going to the large show in my area this weekend, even though my pockets are empty is to see how i feel about this when i'm looking at coins from the perspective of someone who can't afford [again, hopefully only for the moment] them for myself right now. barberlover Les

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

and her boyfriend knew it wasn't his, eventually they learned that she was artificially inseminated while passed out on a sofa from partying the night before. How stupid! That's when I flipped the channel ending my soap days forever. The Springer show is better. They get right to the itty gritty. A place where nobody has any real moral values but yet they all get pissed off at each other anyway.
Since you have a good eye, you should make a good dealer. I consider myself a collector and an occasional seller and not a dealer. I look for coins to collect, not to sell.
Good luck,
Leo
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Wishing you improved health, future employment and good luck in your desire to sell coins to collectors at a fair price. If it's fun it is worth doing.

As for becoming a dealer? With this economy? Think again. Maybe go to school and improve your skills?
I feel for you. In the past two years, I was out of work for 6 months, 5 months and 3 months. Since I was very good with my money at one time, I saved and saved but the above stints of being out of work really drew on what I saved. Even when I didn't have too much of a problem with the finances, I sold what I could on ebay... Even though I was comfortable, I felt the need to bring money into the house.
I wouldn't say I was a dealer "Wannabe" but I guess you could say "Reseller"
I actually made an Excel spreadsheet at one time which took into consideration... Cost Of Supplies, Postage, Item Cost, Gain/Loss. I probably averaged about $1000 per month after cost. It wasn't a great deal of money but it kept my finances in order.
Stay away from the soaps! watch CNN and CNNfn, Stay away from Rikki Lake! She will poison your mind.
Good Luck!
