1970 Kellogg's e-Bay Price Fluctuations

Just wanted to post this update on e-bay 1970 Kellogg's prices versus pop. report quanity, for all you die hard Kellogg's fans. I just won the Epstein and Agee. The Epstein was at a PSA 9 pop. of 18 on February 2nd and as of today it's at 19. What ceases to amaze me is that many auction buyers do not follow the pop. reports that closely (I'm not complaining though). Look at the price on that Stargell which is upto a Pop. of 24 in PSA 9.

Suprised the May didn't break the $200.00 ceiling. I bagged out of bidding on it at $150.00

Kellogg's; they may get soggy sometimes...but you can always pour another bowl image

  • Rocco,

The Epstein probablty went a little cheaper than it should have tonight but not that much... One thing you need to remember when looking at a card price is that low population is not the single most important factor in determinng a price. To be quite honest demand is much more important. So here is my spin on the matter..

1.) The players that were battling over May and Stargell had the Epstein so there was much less competition for it.... If you already have the card and you are not sure you can resell the card for a profit there is no incentive to bid....

2.) The Stargell will probably hold its price around $150 as It has a very low population for a Hall-of-famer in this set . In addition, a good portion of those Stargell's could and probably do reside in the hands of Pirate collectors or non-Kellogg set builders ( Making acquistion much more difficult for the Kellogg' Set builder). It would be interesting to see what a PSA 9 Clemente would bring right now with several 90+% sets needing one....

3.) Although the MAy could be put on the same par with Epstein in terms of poulation.. Several sets that are in the 90% range do not have the MAy and it has not come up to auction that often ...

Jeff is right and I will tell you why. I needed the Stargell and the May and put in Snipes of 150 and 175. I was a little concerned about the May but thought the Stargell was mine. too many people who are close to completion need the card. When sets get close registers tend to do what it takes to complete so they can move on to next set. I know I pay a little more when I get down to the last cards. Still need the May, Stargell and Clemente in nine.
