In reading the related posts (including that of the 64 Kennedy, ms69 CT) this one coin/date/mm/grade also came to mind.
Has anyone made or seen any of the current pop of 3 ?
Do you think they are for real ?
Any other thoughts ?

I have placed 2/3 coins thus far. The 3rd might have been the coin that traded on TT, which I missed the auction. All looks fine there Wondercoin
Yea someone is enjoying it!
ps. Correct me if I'm wrong, Tad, but I remember that being on your site for about a day or so? If we only knew...
Now that is a WONDERCOIN!

This is a perfect example of a "modern" coin that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. A properly graded MS68 1976(d) Quarter!! Yes, the coin is only about 27 years old, but, does anyone doubt this coin will be immensely popular in the decades ahead? PCGS has yet to grade a single MS68 1976(p) yet!! Coins like this are what "moderns" are all about.
Are these really easy to slab? Make that first 1976(p) quarter in MS68 and PM me for an offer that may just blow you away!! Wondercoin
ps. see the luster on that puppy???

Appreciate the update/thoughts, agree with you.
Tad,
WOW, that is (in my best Steve Irwin - Croc hunter voice) a real beauty !!!
Absolutely amazing, in fact, I closed re-opened, closed re-opened, closed re-opened this thread at least 20 times just to take a nother look.
WOW again !!!

Ken (cointime),
That is not a WONDERCOIN, that is a SUPERCOIN !!!

That WAS a Supercoin, became a Wondercoin and then a "Registrycoin". The forum member I sold it to might have another name for it now.
Wayne - my guess is then that I sold the coin you sold (after placing a collection the coin was in) - leaving -1- unanswered 76(D) looming out there
Wondercoin
that traded on TT back in 1998 or 1999. I think it brought $260!
I was happy at the time considering I removed the coin from a
1976 mint set. Back then interest in modern coins was in its infancy
and I thought very few people bothered to look for and submit such
coins to PCGS. So I figured the populations would simply take-off
once people saw that they could make money from "high-grade
pocket change".
Well, look at the increased interest and prices these coins bring in
2003! What would an MS-68 1976-D 25c sell for to the right person
now? Kind of reminds me of the 1972-D PCGS MS-67 Ike $1 I made
and sold on Teletrade back in the Fall of '98 for $1600. People were
shaking their heads when I told them about that price then.
Now??.......
FYI, I find that the 25c and 50c from 1976 mint sets are usually
nicer than those in the 1975 mint sets.
<< <i>Learning what the "classic moderns" are, may mean that the "classic" dealers might have to go back to school. >>
Now you know why I chose it to be my eBay handle: http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/classicmoderns/
And it's alright- I'm not running any auctions now...

you look at just the top 10% or 3% then the '76 coins are still nicer. At the top
.5% or so there is little difference and in at least one case the '75 is superior.

And what sampling methodology was used to come up with this conclusion?

-With ZERO inventory in that catagory.

Another post, another e-Mail, another look (enjoy it, I did).
Cupronik,
Appreciate your feedback, especially that it came from a '76 mint set.
Cladking,
Definitely agree on the '76 versus the '75 by considering the 76 t1 versu 76 t2 Ikes, not to mention the halves and quarters (generally don't look at the nickels or dimes though).
