More mint sets selling at retail.
Has anyone noticed that increasing numbers of retailers are pricing the
proof and mint sets at prices that are significantly higher than bid? Often
these prices will be more than double CDN bid. In the April Coinage there
are several ads for mint sets and the prices are definitely up. (check out
the dimes on page 64 too).
The mint sets available online are especially getting higher in comparison to
bid. The dealers who actually update their sites frequently are likely the ones
actually selling these and these are the sites which are going higher.
I'm not sure what this all means, but the implication is that these are getting
harder to keep in stock so the spread is increasing.
Of course these are virtually the sole source for many moderns.
