Do NGC and ANACS slabs fit into PCGS blue plastic boxes?

A friend of mine says he will give me several excess PCGS blue boxes to me.
He only collects PCGS. I collect all three of the grading services. Will NGC and ANACS slabs fit?
I have never used PCGS boxes before. I have used to date, the NGC amber boxes.

thanks,
Brian.

  • Anacs holders are loose in the blue boxes, and NGC ones are too tall...
    Hope this helps...

NGC slabs are too tall, so the lid doesn't snap shut. ANACS slabs are too narrow so they won't stay in the slots.

Thanks guys, how far is the lid from the lining , can I use a heavy rubber band to attach it.

    Brian.
  • Brian, you CAN use heavy duty rubber bands to secure the lid to boxes holding ANACS and NGC slabs, it works really well. I use three, one around each end and one in the middle. Never had any problems but I don't move my boxes around a lot either. The NGC slabs make the lids just barely not close securely; sometimes you'll be teased that the lid closed good but don't trust it--use the rubber bands.

I use the cardboard boxes that NGC sends submission coins back in. They are slotted, and fit every type of slab. Not the prettiest thing to look at, but the most efficient that I've found. The cardboard won't scratch the slab either.
They last a LONG time also.

  • I find the smoky plastic NGC boxes are best...they hold NGC and PCGS coins perfectly!

The Smoky NGC Boxes are the best period. They hold everything and you can use a Baseball Card sleeve over the slabs to protect them and to keep them from rattling around in the boxes. Those Blue PCGS Boxes are Ugly anyway.

I agree about the NGC boxes being the best and have dozens for my collection, but since I am getting
a few PCGS boxes for free, I am not complaining since they are freeimage

    Brian.
  • You ask if NGC & ANACS fit in the PCGS blue box. The answer is YES, lay them on their side.

Yup, I also put the NGC ones in sideways. Now, here is an area where the grading services should get together and standardize the size of the slab. It would just make it easier for everyone to handle slabs in general. Plus, if PCGS (or anyone else) really thinks that the particular size of their slab is some super secret competitive edge over the other guys, then they are all smoking something......burnt accucrap slabs perhaps.......its like tires on cars......different manufacturers make all the same sizes & the whole market benefits as a result. Sometimes we are too darn competitive for our own good - anyone who knows telecom knows what the GSM standard has done for Europe & why the US is literally a couple years behind the rest of the world in cell phone technology (Americans are stunned to hear this, but it is totally true).
