NGC ..... give me a break .... out

I good freind of mine purchased a $10 gold (1849) coin 4 or 5 months ago ,sent it in and the grade was EF45. Sent it back out 3 weeks ago and showed it to me today and he got AU55 on the same coin. I am not a fan of cracking out coins .... but this could make you think twice about changing your religion. I would never guessed NGC was that loose on grading from month to month. BY the way those of you that saw or responded to the thread on texas*fruit*and*nut*. They said they sent my payment back for the 57-O and sold it to a local dealer and for the 1854 $1.... they sent it back also. NO REFUND. By the way attatched to their reply was my original posting about this situation on the forum. Russ thanks for the get your head out of your behind note. I needed it and deserved it.... It must have been gold fever.

What!! NGC isn't 100% perfectly consistant at all times!!imageimageimage No wonder they aren't accused by the major dealers on this site of being too harsh and "destroying" peoples coins!

Way to go for your friend, but more questions raised about NGC.

Yeah, we seem to have a gutless little snitch around here that goes running to these slimeball sellers when anybody brings to light the garbage they try to pull. Not the first time this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last.

There is a very thin line with gold coins from XF-AU.

  • Why would anyone run to the scum sucking seller? I do think that Texas Fruit seller should be reported on Safe Harbor. Also these crooks also should be exposed on the ebay boards as well.
As far as NGC on EF/AU gold, sounds like they blew it! But could PCGS do any better? I doubt it...

I would never guessed NGC was that loose on grading from month to month.

Why does this mean they are loose? The EF45 could have been a super tight grade and the AU55 the accurate grade.

KRJB, are you a new collector?
  • I first started collecting 30 years ago and then stopped 15 years ago and started again about 2-1/2 years ago. I didn't start submitting coins to PCGS and NGC until 10 months ago.

Although it does sound like a large jump in grades, too large for such a recent submission, I agree with WingedLiberty. xf/au gold is a virtual toss up with the services. Same for the au/58-ms/62 grades on the incuse designed gold. Let us know if this particular coin was an anomoly, or if you get some consistent changes in recently submitted stuff.

  • Because of the lack of integrity of some of our members I will not go into the details, BUT, the texas*fruit*and *nut* situation is not even close to over .

I'll second BigD5's comment, and go it one better. Even with the big services, I find the "uncertainty range" on the incuse gold to be AU58 to MS63. I've held a 63 and a 58 side by side in the same service's holder more than once, and I swear that neither is clearly the superior piece. Holds even under 7x-10x examination. Certainly this is the exception, but still a little tough to deal with on the collector end.

About as obvious as how you dont know squat, dont know anyone and are only a peekaboo BS artist on the coin universe coin talk forum who only knows enough lingo to talk a "fooler" half game to quite a few who dont know better of what a little chump chinch you are in real life.

This type of thing is what is feeding the crackout game at both major services.

When someone submits a coin who really knows there stuff hoping for a 66 but would be a little dissapointed if they got a 65 ends up with a 64, that person probably [besides being pissed] feels they arn't risking much doing a crackout new submission versus a grade review.

How many of you on a coin worth more than 500 bucks that you felt the grading service of your choice of the top 3 blew it by at least 1 full point, wouldn't resubmit the coin and do it crack out style instead of grade review ?

Why don't you take your attitude and leave these forums. You have yet to provide any help to anyone. 240 posts and most all of those are attacks on other forum members. All you seem to want to do is bash DCAMFranklin. I don't know about him, but I can say that you are a scumbag dealer that should be avoided. The more you post, the worse you look. If you want to continue to attack him, then take it to email.

I have broken several coins out of NGC holders. Not to resubmit for a higher number though. To put in type set albums. The grades they had assigned were apparently pretty accurate, but not very relevant, most were nice but unspectacular slider unc coins, like these commems:

    Eddie,

Is that assertion based on your extensive experience in submitting coins to NGC? Or, perhaps the many NGC slabbed coins that you've bought and/or sold?

Russie, it's an assertion based upon the many, many PCGS, NGC and ANACS coins that I have purchased and subsequently cracked out for inclusion in my collection of RAW coins. I just noticed that NGC is way off on the grading of certain coins. Overall, PCGS seems to be the most accurate graders, but no service is consistent.

Let me re-phrase it for you Russell: ALL grading services suck, but PCGS doesn't suck as much. Happy now?

  • I do not want to lower myself to your poor communications skills and people skills, but if I did I would ask you a couple of questions. 1) Is your life a mess ? 2) Have your communication skills been poor and keeping you from having a normal life since the time you could talk ? 3) Was there a significant life event that has caused you to be the way you are ? The bottom line DOOPS is this, if you are not planning to add value to coin collecting then don't communicate at all.
