teletrade

Has anyone bought from teletrade before? There are a couple of things I saw in thier auction coming up on Tuesday that I wouldn't mind throwing a bid on....

Thoughts?

  • I used to do a ton with them (selling wise) They wouldn't charge commission on items over $1,000.00 (not even ebay can beat that.)
Also, they have auctions every week, so once you sent it to them, it wasn't long before it was being auctioned. But like everyone else, you had to wait a month for your check.
Buying was quick and easy too. They don't take credit cards, but send 'em a check, they ship quick. Easy return policy too.

Yup, they run a pretty tight ship over there.
I have had nothing but positive things to say about them.

Only good things to say here....

besides a somewhat archais system, I am happy to buy and sell from Teletrade.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

It seems like they sell a lot of non-graded material and that a lot of it is in mid to lower grades...can good bargins be had....looking back at thier past completed auctions, they don't sell much...
  • In fact I bought from them last night. Sometimes really good deals can be found since the auctins are only like 3 hours and they usually start at less than half of SMR for graded. I got a PSA 8 Fisk rookie for 30. I've bought from them before and they get the cards out right away after payment. Never sold though.
Always looking for pre 1990 rookies and stars, pre 1970 baseball (all) and HOF game used.

  • TELETRADE does take cc payments. they ship fast. just remember the buyers fee when you bid gl
  • I've used teletrade for about 9-10 years now!

Back in the phone in your bid days the format was much more complicated. The cards discription was all one had to make a decision.
I found that teletrade was usually very conservitive with their grading. I was happy with 95% of all auctions won. I would return the one's I disliked. Never a problem with returns.

I stopped for a few years. When graded cards started to appear I renewed my interest with them. I like to buy in lots. so shipping is
about the same for one card or 100.

Over the last 6 months-year teletrade has turned to SGC more and PSA less. I therefore haven't bought much in that time. I can only hope they will get to a 50/50 with grading services.

    I recommend teletrade mrc32, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Do they have a website and can anyone provide a link?

    Thanks,
    Vic
Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • I recommend teletrade if you "play your cards right". I agree with other comments generally, many cards sell for too high, while others are "given away".

Here is a link to learn about them:

  • Buyers fee and sales tax hit me (CA resident). But I've always had prompt shipment of cards whenever I've won something.

Didn't realize there was a no commission rate for items over $1k. I'll have to look into that.... image
  • No complaints here. I've always had positive experiences with them. Most of the graded stuff is run on the Thursday auctions. I do forget to look at a lot of the auctions though. You can scan/search future and past auctions on their website. I find this very useful.

    I don't like their grading.

I don't like that whenver they sell '53 Bowman Color #82 Joe Astroth, they call him "Astroth Easter" for some completely unknown reason. I don't like that whenver they sell a 2001 basketball card, it goes into their catalog as 1901. 2003 seems a bit late for a Y2K bug.

The first one is obviously much more important than these last two, but you'd think they'd figure it out.

If you win something from one of their auctions, they will send it to you, and they have a money-back guarantee.

Don't forget the 10% buyer's fee, and that you'll pay $5+ for shipping.

  • When I started to build my 1969 Topps Baseball PSA set about 4-5 years ago I was lucky enough to find Teletrade and win 3 or 4 lots thaty contained 20 PSA graded 69' commons each. These lots really got me going at the time and even with the buyers fee I won them for under SMR.

My PSA 8 Dalrymple Catching varition even came from a Phillies team lot that was described as NRMT that I submitted for grading so I would also say that the grading they do is conservative.

As more and more people have caught onto this; especially regarding PSA graded material, it is more difficult to find a bargain. Cant say that I've won anything in over a year although I havent visited lately.

My experiences were always pleasant regarding shipping and packaging.
