Could someone pls. give me a good scale to go by when weighing sets. I am trying to create the Basketball HOF RC set and need a rough idea.
for example
in a PSA 8
$.01-10.00 = .5
$10.01-25.00 = 1
etc...
thanks

Unfortunately, it is difficult to answer your question without knowing the SMR composition of the cards in the set. The range of prices is probably the most important factor, and I could help you from there, if you could tell me that information.
Also -- with a HOF set, I would look to keep the numbers as integers from 1-10, and shy away from using have set weights.
In weighting the Mike Schmidt Player set, for instance, it wasn't too hard to put together as many cards are valued under $10 in PSA 8 -- and there are only a handful of cards worth over $200. So it depends on the range and distribution. Not being a huge basketball fan, I couldn't tell you. Just guessing, I would say that the 1948 Bowman George Mikan would probably be weighted a 10. Cousy and Russell rookie cards would be behind that, along with the Chamberlain, Robertson, West and Alcindor rookies. Add in Dr. J, Larry Bird, etc., and I would imagine that those cards would typically run the highest weights as they are among the most popular and highly collected Basketball HOFers.
