Very pretty toning, reminds me of the type of toning un undipped pan-pacs near the edges on the obverse, but to much luster missing on the obverse fields for my tastes. I don't think the coin is nice quality technically for a 66 and to expensive for what it is [very pretty though]
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
oh. oh, Gulp!!! Laura, please don't be mad at me!!
Was just my opionion that the luster in some of the unprotected areas didn't look full enough for my tastes, that doesn't mean i think it isn't a very pretty coin [which it is] actually though giving opionions on coin images, not coins, just images is a very trickey thing to do. I hope someday there will be a way to get a birds eye veiw of the way a coin looks thru the internet as close to actually holding the coin in your hand but im not sure that will happen anytime soon.

Laura, Yeah, I thought that was your coin. I did see that coin at your office, and like I said before I thought it was VERY pretty and has a ton going for it. Just felt it had a fair amount of ticks for a 66, thats all. No offense.
The Twenty Cent Piece on my site is truly a one of a kind piece as many will acknowledge. Thank you Laura for commenting on my behalf. One thing to consider here is if Laura owned and loved it, that must say something - right as she certainly handles some exceptional coins!! Is it cheap? NO!!! Did I pay a lot? Yes. If you can't pay a lot for a coin like this - then you either got really lucky or you don't get to own it.
Why do people feel they have to apologize if they say they don't like a coin? Can you imagine how much more expensive this hobby would be if everyone agreed on what a nice coin should look like?
I have also seen the coin and felt it was nice but too dark for my tastes. A MS66? Hmm, maybe. At a 34/2 pop I feel it is a stretch for that pricing. Many other rarer coins out there with larger collecting bases available for less.
Lizard, I don't think I apologized. I had the opportunity to buy the coin, but I did not because it does not meet my expectations of a 66 ( and also because I have a killer 1878 pr65), but that does not mean I can't be objective and say that it does have a great deal going for it. It is very tough to find 20 cent pcs. with killer eye appeal.
That's too funny. I bought that coin from Mike at Whitlow about a year ago or so, sold it to a very asute fellow and apparently it is now back at Whitlow. (Even astute people on occasion hold coins for only a short period of time.)
For a very long time, my image of that coin, and i can dig it out if you want me to, was my computer's wallpaper.
The coin is better than Mike's image although Mike's images are some of the very, very best. He can capture luster and most of the color.
That is not easy.
Normally, you get accurate luster and washed out color
Adrian!!!! Thank you for your kind words regarding the coin and the images I take.....means a great deal coming from you as I think the world of your images as well......some great stuff Adrian.
Now...I knew I had owned this coin before when I bougt it - perhaps one reason I wanted to own it again. I have always said, when you see old friends in a case and go "WOW!!!!!" again, it must have been a great coin when you want to buy it again and again!!
I remember you telling me a while ago that you had the image of this coin as your wallpaper. And...since you remember the coin Adrian, you are correct when you say it is much prettier in person than what you see in the images.
Bear, if there is anyone here that doen't need to win the lottery it's you!!!
If there is anyone here who really needs to win the lottery ITS ME!!!
Besides if i won the lottery, the new hottest series would be mint state barbers!!! And i'd buy Larry whitlows proof 66 cam 1897 barber half. I'm still thinking about selling my blood to aquire that one. barberlover

A very nice looking coin for sure. Bustman you must be tough. A man after my own heart. Since I bought a beautiful PQ near white peice from Larry a year ago I've been tracking MS66 20cent pieces. I thought I paid too dear a premium but maybe not after all.
MS66 20 centers seemed to be very slow sellers. Maybe now they are finally moving out of inventories. I have not seen this piece but one thing is for sure, there is no shortage of doggy 65 and 66 twenty cent pieces on the market in both major holders. Finding honest 65's or 66's is tough.
Thanks for the many comments. Based on people's observations, no doubt a stunning coin.
However, I'm a little shy -- this one has been making the rounds, and traded in November for $ 9200. In spite of the hot market . . . a bit of a premium.
Well....I can assure you as will Laura I paid far and away over what this piece supposedly sold for in November. If it in fact did sell for that price, the guy got a total steal!!! Anyway, as Laura said, I bought it directly from her at Long Beach.
Thanks to all for your comments....it is very helpful to see the many different comments regarding a coin such as this. I'm biased on this one....I think it's just simply outstanding and rare as such!
Well, went to check out the 20c piece and saw a nice IHC proof on the site too - will be here Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing it.
That 20c piece is beautiful!!! Sure would like to see it in person.
