I spoke with PCGS today and they seemed interested in examining the (7) different 1982(p)(d) cents for possible inclusion in the pop report as separate entities. Of course, these coins are in the Red Book and NGC already separately designates these coins.
I recommend that PCGS simply leave the current 1982(p)(d) pops alone in the pop report and start (7) different catagories in the pop report for the (7) 1982(p)(d) varieties. This way, folks who own the prior graded coins can submit them for designation review into the (7) new catagories.
Any other Lincoln Cent enthusiasts have additional comments? I will forward this thread to PCGS.

How many of the current coins are even worth a regrade price?
Good news. Just as Brian pointed out is why I have avoided picking up one for my type set, in case one day it is not allowed. Or more my luck the one I would buy, would turn out to be zinc and not useable in the 1959-1982 series type.
