Important Message Regarding PCGS Policy

Hi Everyone,

Unless PCGS management posts a message either here and/or on the Set Registry News page regarding an issue that has been presented in this forum, you can assume that the issue is still on the table.

As many of you are aware, it was several months before a policy was presented regarding the Variety issue. This is because the issue was complicated and deserved thoughtful consideration. The same is true of the proposed sticker issue. The poll I posted on February 4th showed a majority in favor of the idea with many excellent observations being made on the issue. Therefore, PCGS is in the process of evaluating the merits of such a program. But the idea is complex and deserves careful study. It could be some time before a decision is made.

Rest assured that when PCGS management does make a decision on this issue, there will be a public announcement by PCGS. In the meantime, you patience is very much appreciated as always.

    Bj,

Thank you for the update. I did read TDN's post and thought it was an idea that may have been put to bed. It truly is a complex task and once a decision is made, it will probably be in place a long while. It shows good judgement to think it all out. I will stay tunedimage

    hey BJ

just a thought, but you may want to run this at the U.S. forum since many don't venture to this page. given that, you are really stretching if you hope for patience about anything regarding PCGS policy in any form or fashion. haven't you noticed the feeding frenzy lately? i for one can wait, but many need results yesterday.

    thanks for your effort.

As I posted in the other thread:

Hmmm - my mistake? Perhaps I misinterpreted the statement made to me to be all encompassing when it was not ..........

I think I'm going to go out this weekend and buy a Lincoln Town Car...

Then I'm going to take it to a Cadillac dealer and have an Eldorado emblem put on it. image

That was worthwhile. I thought as people continued to think the proposal through, the ideas got better and the possibles wrinkles got ironed out, making for a good start to the new proposal. I think it needs tinkering, but there is a good idea in there somewhere.

Good idea. It really should have been included in the set to begin.

This issue is a double edge sword, which is not that important to myself. More importantly, I would rather see PCGS and NGC spend as much time as possible in setting up a program to stop doctored coins from entering the market place. The grading services are the only sure stop gap to this problem. Coin doctors will never be caught doctoring and they can always have freinds submit their doctored products, so you, the grading services, are the only hope of stopping doctored coins.
  • The reason I didnt say anything in the first thread about this, was not to step on any toes, I like it friendly..thats just me. I personally think in line with ZERBE, Lets get the real problems worked out first, like CONSISTANT Grading, and Timely returns on the grading (NOT 3 MONTHS), then move onto the trivial things like who gets coins in a supposed all PCGS set. Not to cause any hard fellings at all, just expessing my opinion.
