West Point Silver Eagle Proofs. Good Investment?
.jpg)
Hello all. This is my first posting ever so be gentle. I have been looking at the 1995 W West Point Proof and its price ascension. I've read it had a proof run of only 30,416 coins. My question is , what was the proof run for 2001 W, 2002 W and how do you think their value will increase compared to the 1995 W. Thank you.

The 1995 W was a special SAE proof that was only produced for sale with a complete gold set and the set was $999. The Mint sold a little over 30,000 of these. The SAEs of recent times were produced en masse or over 600K to 750K for the past couple of years.
You cannot compare the two. There was a 1995-P (No mint mark) that was produced in volume.
The critical piece to the 1995-W is that no dealers have a large quantity of them and thus they come on the market in ones and twos. Dealers do have substantial inventories of the other proof SAEs and they are readily available from a number of places.
I would also add that coins are a wonderful hobby and a terrible investment. If you are looking to put some money into coins, look to the keys of the classics, not modern proofs. As an example I personally think the prices of the 1999 Silver proof sets are very over priced.
Welcome to the forum!
The pod grows...
Proofs:
1999 549.769
2000 600,000
2001 746,154
2002 646,901
2003 N/A
in 1995 there were two proofs issued:
San francisco 395,400
West Point 30,125
You can see why the 1995W comands such a high price.
This site will also give figures for ASE Bu's.
I hope this information has been helpful. I love these coins (bullion)....no matter what other people think of them. I think a lot of people feel the same way. I hope you have as much fun collecting them as I have had. I can't see anyone making any quick money on these things but the dealers who sell to us collectors. I do think in the LONG RUN (20 or 30) years, it will be a different case.
ASE mintage figures
Good luck....have fun.

That's the best investment advice one can get here!
Everyone has an opinion but remember it is just that, an opinion, do your homework.
That being said, keep in mind what causes coin values to go up. Rarity, condition and demand. ASE are mass produced moderns of superior quality that do not see circulation. We can assume 40yrs from now many will still be in collector hands in excellent condition. Even with just 30,000 or even 10,000 that's alot of coins that to be in high demand for prices to move significantly higher.
