What's your take on this auction?

to me, a "short set" of rosies means 64-present. including, the coins he listed. should i have read the auction a little more carefully, or is it misleading?

From previous experence i would have asked for sure. He could very well mean the set has these six coins only. I've learned (the hard way) not to assume anything.

    Good luck, mike

P.S. Don' collect these but the price doesn't seem high.

Well, since dates were plainly listed, so I don't think it was misleading. I would have assumed that the auction was for the dates listed only. I guess some people just have different ideas of the term "a short set."

Looks to me like the auction is for 6 dimes.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I think it was clear enough. He mentioned the six specific coins in the second sentence of the auction description.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I've always considered a short set to include from present back to when the coins start getting alot more valuable. In other words more than the 6 or so stated in the auction. I think the proper term should have been "lot" for the auction. I don't know if the short set was used in a deceptive way or not but it didn't net him a whole lot of money.

The price tells you that no one else was "fooled".

  • I have never heard of a Short Set of Roosevelts. I would have figured it was just for the dates listed.
