"France said this week they need more evidence to convince them Saddam is a threat. Yeah, last time France asked for more evidence it came rollin thru Paris with a German Flag on it." -Dave Letterman
Am I too cynical in thinking that this auction is a crock of crap? The last coin I bought that was supposedly cracked out turned out to be a harshly cleaned turd that looked nothing like the image that was in the auction.
They're both believable. Many type collectors would crack out PCGS coins to place into their albums. When the coin is to be sold the insert is offered along with it. Also look at both coins. jbsteven's Morgan has the look of the first insert and the Large cent has the look and appeal of the VF grade.
No doubt the coins will sell for less though because of the stigma attached to raw coins on eBay (mostly justified, but not always so).
In this particular case I would give the seller the benefit of the doubt. The reason for this is I recognize the user ID as someone who has bid on a large number of quality coins and who has sold a large number of quality coins over the years. Also, the PCGS insert has tape on it and that might indicate to me that the insert was taped inside of a type set album. The coin looks okay. As long as there is a return privilege I would bid if interested.

You must be. It would be un-E-Bay to use the label from a slab to sell a different coin!
what do you think?
