San Francisco mint commemoratives?

LanLordLanLord Posts: 11,718 ✭✭✭✭✭
In the most recent CoinAGE mag there was a quick blurb about the bill that was brought to Congress for the SF mint commemorative. It mentioned that there is still a bill regarding the proposed $3 gold and 20 cent silver, anyone see that? Perhaps there is still hope for what would be the best modern commemoratives ever made.

Can you give us more details? I haven't subscribed to CoinAge in over 20 years. image

Not too many details. Bill S 168 introduced on Jan 15, by Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer calls for Commemorative coins to commemorate the Old Granite Lady. Then mentions that there is an alternate proposal to re-issue glod $3 and sliver 20cent pieces with modern dates and S mint marks. No other details.

Maybe time to write my Senators again (both of the above are my senators).

  • Shiroh, that was cold, funny though.image
Of the 2 choice listed I think I would prefer the alternate.
    Eunice Shriver, LOL.

Even El Capitan doesn't have as many wrinkles as E. Shriver. That's a scary looking coin (but I have two of themimage)

Let me guess, you wanted to make certain that you didn't have a mint error and they were all that ugly!image
  • I, for one, would love to see SF commems in the denominations and types of the old SF mint types (well, at least one side of the coin or something along those lines). They would be very different from today's commems.
