Fingerprint Award!

I don't believe that I've ever seen a Morgan obverse with more fingerprints than this one. I thought that it may have been textile toning when I first looked at it, but I after closer examination it looks like fingerprints to me.

No, it's the new tiger print pattern toning! I don't think that pattern should qualify for MS-64...

Maybe someone dropped it in their dipping solution. Not only did they leave prints all over it, they failed to properly neutralize it too, neither of which, may have been detected during encapsulation. That coin appears to represent a great example of improper dipping, improper handling and why one shouldn't send a coin in immediately after dipping. On the few ocassions that I dip a coin, I always employ a "period of observation." image

  • They probably were put on the coin just before being slabbed at PCGS? image

How do you neutralize a coin after dipping?

more talk of 'proper dipping" and how long to wait after dipping untill slabing. I got flamed many times whn i first joined these boards for jokes about dippers and i agree that anyone has the right to due with there own coin what they want to, but i really wish that every coin ever diped or that will ever get dipped would be totally messed up forever with no hope of fixing it ever!!! The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
