(May have been reposted earlier, although I didn't see it.)

Perhaps some of you can shed some more light on this.

I didn't see this particular article but there was an article in CW about a week ago regarding this coin (I don't have that issue with me but I think it's describing the same coin).
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

I know of Frank. They call him Mr. Z in Illinois. Not the sharpest tack in the wall, although he will tell you differently. I am surpised that he made such a discovery, although I know that the coin is not worth anything near $100,000......more like $10,000 at best. Best of luck to Mr. Z and I hope he gets as much as possible for the coin. It's worth $1,000,000 compared to what some of this modern pocket change crap is selling for.

I think Coin World reported it to be a newly discovered pattern coin, no?

Seems that Breen reported of the possibility of its existence, so I imagine, some collectors have been searching. I don't think there will be too many discovered.

The pattern dollar discovered by Mike Fey is/was being challenged by the pattern collectors club. They believe this design/specimen was MENTIONED in a past catalog -- guess they don't like Fey claiming it's unique and a new discovery -- or, it could just be the way CW decided to spin the article. I say let the man have his due; he's got an actual specimen in hand - any challenge should be with a like specimen.
