I don't know if there is a glove that gives the secure feeling of direct hand contact, [is there som

I,m very saddened to hear of the 1892 proof morgan dollar that was printed, for me when i'm at a local shows, dealers i know let me examine raw coins with out gloves that are very expensive peices, i've never even thoght about using gloves because direct finger to edge contact gives me the best "feel" for securly holding the coin.

Is there any type of surgical glove that would give the graders about the same secure feel when holding the coins?

  • I find that latex gloves work well. Just get the right size for your hand. They are a bit uncomfortable to wear for extended
periods though. I've had coins slip out of my fingers while wearing cotton gloves on occasion.

I like freshly washed and dried hands best for handling coins, and being REALLY careful the nicer the coin is.... if i was handling someone else's expensive proof coin, I'd be wearing cotton gloves and holding it only an inch or two above a microfiber covered padded velvet tray. imo a finger print is absolutely inexcuseable from a major grading co. IMO you also know if you've touched the surface and should own up not just go "oops" to yourself and continue processing the piece.
