Question regarding value of OPC from '70s

I don't see any notations in the SMR regarding opc cards. Do they sell at a premium or a discount to their Topps counterparts?

They are generally harder-to-find than Topps in terms of condition (due to the differing production process, for starters). As such, they are infrequently collected, both because they are harder-to-find in top shape, and because a lot of collectors don't appreciate all the extra French squeezed in on the card. On the whole, they sell at discounts compared to their Topps counterparts, especially in set form. The exception I can identify, though, is that a lot of player collectors do seem to pay premiums for various high-grade 70s OPC issues of HOF or popular players they collect. Sometimes it is a premium over a simiarly-graded Topps counterpart, often it is not. That depends more on the population of the Topps card than anything. A 1970s HOF OPC PSA 8 NM/MT card will probably fetch a higher price than its Topps counterpart, for instance.

<< <i>The reason I asked was that I was bidding on, and have since won ebay auction #2713883590. I think the seller could have presented a better title for search purposes. That Fisk rookie looks pretty sweet....but you never know with a scan. If you have time, let me know what you think. Thx. Don >>
I agree. The seller definitely did himself wrong by listing it like that. Great buy on your part, though. I think the card (Fisk) looks pretty nice from the scan, but is a little diamond cut. It's hard to tell what the corners really look like. Let us know when you get it. You could probably sell the other cards raw for more than you paid for all cards combined. I don't know about the Carter rookie though.
JEB.
The Fisk does look a smidge diamond cut when looking at the
bottom border. I'll let you know.
