I just received my SEGS submission today- lots of goodies, including these two toned Peace dollars.

Pretty neat looking coins. Was there any particular reason you sent them to SEGS?

Yes. These aren't GEMS as far as Grade is concerned and there is no question as to their toning authenticity. I like the SEGS holder and I appreciate the "Rainbow Toned" detailed insert.

Had these been MS65 or higher I would have gone with PCGS.

That makes sense, I like their holders too especially that they put info on the top edge of the holder for ease of location when boxed. I wasn't trying to insinuate that the colors were questionable though, sorry if it seemed so. I trust your skills in that dept.

    Nice! And tough to find.

That 22 is a strange looking one. Kinda unusual & cool.
So why did you use SEGS when PCGS & NGC are the usual choice for toners?
Do you find them tight, loose in their grading?
    Are they fast?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I think those are great looking peace dollars, and I like your choice of SEGS for them!

I own several SEGS coins and I am very happy with all of them, especially the prices for what you get!

    Baley, those are extra nice.
Dog97- I find SEGS to be DEAD ON when it comes to mid range MS grades on Morgans and Peace dollars. In other words where they may be somewhat liberal with the MS66 or MS67 (and up) grade, they are accurate with the MS63/64/65 grades.

I just knew the toning was what it was- no question authentic, and also knew no one seeing them would need validation of such via the Service's holder.

Raw or holdered, any toned collector would know these are exactly what they are. With all things being equal I prefer the SEGS holder on coins like these. Now- if they were screaming GEMS- no marks, tons of luster- I'd have gone with PCGS (or, NGC) no doubt!

I think I may have seen this PCGS MS66 (CAC) Peace dollar before. . .

So why are 1923's found to have incredible toning over luscious surfaces?
