But I have a mental block on anything related to Jimmy Buffet...painful memories from my years managing Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta, GA (before and during the Coca Cola sponsorship). Jimmy Buffet has a dubious, but well-earned reputation in the concert business, and travels with his own crew for a reason My crews flat refused to work for him, as did most of the other venues around the South. He finally ended up hiring his own "travelling crew" to deal with the problems. Remember all the cancelled shows in the early 90's? Now you know why I hear he's gotten better though, but out of necessity, as so many venues wouldn't book him in the late 80s and early 90s. I love his music, but he's one first-class jerk.
And for those that will inevitably ask...At the other end of the spectrum was BB King. He's just a "regular guy" and if you ever go to one of his concerts, all you have to do to get backstage to meet him is simply ask. He used to play a 45 minute set in the Jazz Fest in Atlanta, then inevitably spend 2-3 hours in the green room meeting and greeting anyone who asked. A real pleasure, and one of the finest men I've ever met. I still here from him from time to time.
And I've held (and played) Lucille!
