Texas Fruit and Nut CO.

Did any of you win an auction on Ebay from Texas Fruit & Nut CO. ? Unfortunately I won the 1854 $1 gold coin described as Gem BU Exquisite and the 1857-o $2.50 coin. I received the 1854 $1 and never took it out of the 2x2 and saw it had a gouge on the reverse that looked like a scratch per the photo and returned the coin the same day per their instructions express mail and they refused to accept the package. If they list any other items please be warned. Not sure yet what they are doing with my $1625.00 I paid for the 1857-0 yet. They asked me to put in writing that I would not return it. The terms of their listing stated you had one day to return. I told them we had a contract and they could not change the terms after the auction was over. Buyer beware.image

    What is their eBay handle?

What is their specific eBay handle? I come up with nothing for "Texas Fruit & Nut CO".

BTW, your first clue should have been that they were selling "Grandfather's" collection. That's one of the oldest scams on eBay.

I remember a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. Damn, that pisses me off. What a bunch of crooks. I would contact ebay safe harbor if I were you. Maybe pay an attorney $75 to place a call and/or send a certified letter or two. Threaten a lawsuit or something. I bet that they screwed a lot of people. KRJB, could you please give us their ebay id or post a link?

  • The handle on ebay is: texas*fruit*and *nut*. I plan on puling out all of the stops on this scam artis.. If it cost me 10x what they ripped me off for I will get satisfaction.... I did confirm that the handle they used on ebay is the the name of their family business. At this point it is not about the money.... now its about justice and putting them out of business.

I think that their ebay handle is just a way of laughing in everyone's faces. These people (I use the term lightly) really suck! Go get em.
  • Have you figured out where in Texas they are at?
    Go well.
  • Yes they are in Humble Texas, just outside of Houston. I will be contacting the Attorney Generals office and the B.B.B. in Texas. If the auctions were to settle an estate I feel it would only be proper to contact the Department of Revenue for the State of Texas along with IRS . I will get Ebay involved ... not that much will happen with that. Any other ideas or suggestions are welcomed. I will not rest till justice is served.

Don't forget the United States Post Office...................this is mail fraud.....a federal offense.
  • Thank YOU ... I did not think of that.

    KRJB,

I'm still not finding them on eBay. Do you have a link to the auction involved?

    KRJB,

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but this auction SCREAMS scam.

Brand new seller with expensive raw gold claiming it's from "grandad's estate" with a one day Express Mail return policy? I have to ask, what the hell were you thinking?

Now, don't get me wrong, I hope this slimebag gets what's coming to them plus some, but I also hope that this serves as a valuable lesson for you and anybody else buying on eBay.

  • Do you think it would be a good idea if we were all to email them and see what they're doing with the coin and/or money?

  • There were several "Red Flags"! No feedback. GrandPaws collection. High grade unslabed gold. Basically no return. Must pay in 2 or 3 days. Mail must be faster in Texas!?!

I notice the seller (as of right now) has one feedback. KRJB got his coin one day after the March 3 auction ended but there were eight other older $100+ coin auctions by that seller which concluded on Feb. 16 (one auction), Feb. 23 (3), Feb. 24 (2) and Feb. 25 (2).

Does it seem odd that none of those other auction winners have posted feedback yet? You experienced ebayers would know better than me.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Seems odd to me. I have people email that they have left positive feedback that sometimes takes a day or two to show up....but they should have more by now.

Travis, you are in Texas, so how's about headin' on over to Humble and opening a big ole Texas-sized can of whoop-a$$ on this loser?

Funny you should mention this seller. He/she had some nice-looking (from the pics, anyway) Buffs that I was thinking of bidding on, but there was too much "cute" language in the description "my grandfather considered it to be uncirculated") and that bizarre return policy, so I took a pass. I think I'm glad I did.

  • Russ,
No offense taken ... I needed someone to slap me around. It must have been gold fever. The 54 is on its way back to me, no refund. My check for the 57-0 is on its way back also. They say they sold that coin along with rest to a local dealer. PS. I asked them yesterday when I would receive the 57-0 and that is when I was told my check was coming back. The note that I first posted on the forum about this issue was attached to their reply.image
