High bidder, Steinmetz, is a longtime coin dealer in Lancaster, PA. Need to see that one in person; he sees something worth the chase.

What if stienmetz is a shill bidder for the state?

That coin is NOT uncirculated. It is an nice AU coin and that's it. I bet that people will be afraid to return a coin to a goverment agency, especially a state goverment department. The state goverments are often very poorly run in comparison to our federal goverment.

The coin went for $5850!!! Unbelievable. That is better than trends for MS-60! I still cannot get over this.

This is a scam of some sort. Maybe some coin dealers approached the state with the idea of selling their coins through the government. The state and the dealer(s) would split the profit. That quarter eagle is only worth $1000 (on a good day). Somebody just got royally screwed.

They're a government agency, so the rules don't apply to them image Misrepresent, shill bid, outright lie, it's all OK...
  • I would suppose his new handle will be Lotsopain, or Hurtmemore.

    ....or "MoreKY-please"
  • This is not a scam!!!!!!!! The articles come from unclaimed estates and safety deposit boxes! Do a little research. I'm from PA. I know..............Thanks, Ken

Ken, the only research that I needed to do was to see that someone paid $5850 for a $1000 coin.

If the coin is uncirculated, and I can't tell from the photo, but it very well might be, then the price paid is not that far out of line.

    That's a very scary thought.

If the coin was any good it would be in a PCGS or NGC slab. Must be cr@p since it's being sold raw. Isn't that what you've all said in the past? What's different this time?

Has anyone bought anything from their ebay auctions? I would like to know if they have a return policy.I see no mention in their auctions.image
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."
