any experience with Rick T?

he's got an auction that seems a bit expensive but really looks attractive. are his scans overdone or are they pretty accurate?

i'm really considering this coin now but there are no other bidders at that price level which always scares me.

The R&I scans are accurate. What you see is what you get. They are an honorable company

and Rick Tomaska and staff are decent and honest folks. I have dealt with this company since 1984

and have never been dissapointed with them. If one is unhappy with a coin, they will always

seek to make the matter right and satisfactory for you. Bear

I think that you'll find that an R&I coin is " a bit expensive but really looks attractive. " image

Dealt with R&I many, many times. Even had a chance to chat with Mr. T. Great guy who clearly LOVES what he does.

Have had to return a couple coins that didn't meet my standards. No hesitation at all from them on the returns. No third degree, nothing. Just the genuine attitide of "we'll do whatever needs to be done to make it right".

They get the RS Quality Recommendation.image

If you pays his prices, it better be a special coin. How many examples have you seen of the coin in question? I.e., do you have an extensive knowledge base of the coin your considering?

    russ,

thx for the input on Rick T: here's the coin i'm looking at:

    58 Proof

the coin is more appealing to me than a true CAM - and apparently NGC agrees as they've only handed out 8 *'s on that issue. of course, i'm paying full CAM price and then some.

i wouldn't mind paying it as long as when i open the box sunshine pours out.

That one earned the star because of the cameo obverse. Nice looking piece. YHPM.

........the mint wasn't cranking out the best proof product they could by the late 50's. die wear on the master's since restarting in 1950 was probably catching up with them and it seems that by 1958 it was really evident. that half is a fine example of the one-sided cameos that drive me crazy!! there are way to many of them up through the early 70's, maybe PCGS et al should designate HCAM for half-a-cameo. if you think it's rough finding a nice 1958 franklin, search for a nickel sometime. even the CAM's are weak with heavily frosted coins almost non-existent.

as far as R&I Coins, give a call before you bid and ask whatever questions you have. chances are Rick will be in and can help with your decision. i've always been satisfied with what they offer.
