1806 Quarter in NGC MS66 sells and sticks

Since the coin was mentioned in another thread, i thought a follow up was appropriate...here's the email the fellow sent me (hopefully no one will object....i think when a 66K coin sells and sticks on eBay i's a newsworthy item, self laudatory...yes, but newsworthy):

adrian

Hi Adrian,

Much to my surprise the coin turned up unannounced with my doorman today and it’s awesome! (Glad he didn’t know what was in the envelope, although I do trust him.) Your photography is excellent – a very faithful reproduction. I’m filled with equal parts glee and reverence holding an object so old, rare and well cared for.

You were correct about the, um, efficiency of the New York City post office. I visited two local postal stations on Saturday with no luck. Today I called them with the tracking number, but they said the number you gave me lacked a digit and in any case no packages were in their system due at my address. I wonder how they handle truly valuable shipments!

I have two small requests: Could you post feedback for me on ebay? I’m eager to improve my lowly score. (Too bad they don’t dollar weight auction scores, eh?!) Also, could I repost one of your photos on my personal web site (I’ve downloaded them already)?

Thanks again for the coin!

    Now watch.

The market will really heat up- this one will end up in a 67 holder, and you'll end up buying it back at 80K!

I sold some 66K coins on eBay. Of course, it took me a year to do it, and I was selling them by the pound. image

  • LOL, the guy buys a $66k coin and is worried about ebay feedback!!! You gotta love it!

Anaconda were you worried that the coin was "lost"?

How does Heritage or Superior or the others ship coins to various cities for lot viewing? I hope not USPS!!

It sure is nice when you have a buyer send you such a long, informative email after they receive the coin. I really get irritated with some of these buyers who never post feedback and never let you know they got the coin.

Anyhow, this sounds like a very satisfied customer. You did good, as you usually do.
