Question for you 72 guys

Had a pretty sucessful night on e-bay last nite. Neil D. got his upgrade on the cleon IA with a bid that didn't show up till after last sec. Had 3 bids in last 16 seconds of auction I assume at least 2 were sniper services thus my 1st question - Do these services only represent one person per auction ? Also I had a #699 Murcer go for$62 over 2x the smr I checked the pop. seemed not a low pop. card 26-psa 8 does the yankee factor play into the price any thoughts. Gonna start culling my piles of raw for more murcersimage

A sniper service may have more than one of its customers bidding on the same auction.

    tbub,

As the Bobs said - there can be many, MANY people using the same sniping service on the same auction - and I bet you're right - probably 2 out of 3 were using it with the Jones IA 8. Not a bad price, but I expected it to go a little higher.

As for the 699 Murcer - you hit it right that night. I sold one a couple weeks ago and I just packed up a $35 PSA 8 #699 for shipment late last week. Its a great looking Yankee card in the 6th series - great colors, great stance and Murcer was the next generation of Yankee outfielders at the time - Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle... then Murcer... needless to say... our childhood memories of him, never reconcile with the stats on the back of his cards...

  • P.S. I grew up in a little town outside syracuse . The triple A team the chiefs use to be a yankee farm club. Once a year they would play an exibhition game against the yanks. My best freind in 7th grade was a huge Murcer fan . So there we were trying to get some autos when we stuck our heads inthe dugout there sat Murcer and couple others smoking cigarettes in the dugout my buddy was heartbroken and I started to learn that I should put no one on a pedestal because we all have feet of clay.image

Frank> "Not a bad price, but I expected it to go a little higher." I can confirm this. Had eSnipe not missed placing a bid set up days in advance, it would have closed about 15% higher. Suffice to say the bidder who missed out was not happy.

Hi Guys, For all of you that might have wondered. I did use esnipe. It was the first time that I have ever used this service. There are times when you have to win. Also, my bid was almost $60. I didn't expect to win at that price so I was very happy to take it at $40+. Good luck to all of you on the next one. Neil

I have purchased a bunch of high numbered 72 topps both from you and your friend above. I have never used a snipe program. I just sat around close to closing time and picked up the gravy that herbalizer and one other set collector left over for me. I purchased three high numberd series packs and got lucky as heck receiving three IA cards that came back 9's including the Mercer. You guys got me going again so I just registered 40 cards in psa 9 for fun. I have 60 more and might post them so i can actually "place' on that set reg as it seems prety popular right now! Thanks
