A Newbie Dealer's Retrospective on LB

As overwhelming an experience as the last several months have been for me, the LB show was a fabulous experience. I had previously been to many shows on the other side of the table (LB, ANA, FUN, Santa Clara) and had always found it difficult to open conversations with dealers who didn't already know me. Sitting on the other side taught me that it can be difficult from that end as well. It's a dance, and it always takes two.
On the other hand, that "Exhibitor" tag around my neck gave me some added confidence to walk the floor and talk to other dealers, as if I now felt I would be accepted. It was strange, but it really did make me more comfortable, after the initial jitters of the first day, arriving and getting my ID and table.
The show was slow on the selling side, but was tons of fun in that I got to talk to so many people about patterns and any other topic that might come up. I met people looking for patterns, those selling patterns and those who just wanted to learn about patterns. I even learned about friends who were willing to put dollars and cents aside and do what they felt was right.
This was a great first show and I look forward to the next LB show, and hope to set up next January at FUN.

I'm glad I could help you with your "Schoolgirl" purchase and congratulations again on your latest acquisition to your personal collection - the PCGS-PR68DCAM Morgan quarter
I'm sure WC is referring to the "schoolgirl pattern" that RKKay recently picked up.
PLEASE NOTE THE EDIT: BOILER 78's gesture WAS SELFLESS, NOT selfish. He has proven himself to be a friend who comes around once in a long long time.
Specializing in 1854 and 1855 large FE patterns

I had the pleasure of meeting boiler78 in Baltimore last November, and I'm not surprised to hear what he did. He's a great guy and he loves those Morgan patterns!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
