My new purchase ... Half Dime

I just purchased this 1856 half dime on eBay and wanted to get some comments about the price I paid and if I were to send it in to be graded what do you think it would grade. I really liked the coin so whatever you say will not be held against you because I know it is just your opinion. 1856 Half Dime

Why would you want this in a slab? Not worth sending anything more than economy and definitely not by itself.
I would save the money spent putting into a slab, and spend it buying another coin like the one you got!
But, as sinin1 wrote, I would save the grading fee to buy another coin.
it looks like the classic album toned coin with
wonderful clean undipped fully original surfaces with great eye appeal and a really super nice vf coin vf 35 maybe xf 40 but if you think about it most all xf 40 pcgs/ngc coins are just really nice vf coins
usually real xf coins in ngc/pcgs holders usually have to be xf45
again for the above comments i need to see a coin sight seen to be 100% sure as there are always exceptions to the rules!
sincerely michael a really neat nice little half sister
You have a very nice HD. I agree that his coin is in the grade rangeof 35-40 but original example of a common date LSHD. I really like to see someone collecting an honest coin at a reasonable price. Now for fun, study your coin. There are at least 8 variaties with 31 pairs of dies used in this year. There are differences in the top of the 5, loop of the 6, location of the date relative to the pendant and shield point. double date, strikes, and perhaps repunched date. References: Breen; Valentine; Blythe;Gobrecht Journals. For me, this is what makes this hobby fun and interesting. You can as much pleasure from studying affordable coins as collecting expensive slabbed gems.
If you elect to (or have already done it) study the coin, let me know what you find.
Thanks in Advance
