Anybody else miss a card on eBay just now?

EBay is having trouble. I was waiting to snipe a card and got hosed. I know half of you are thinking "Why don't you use eSnipe?", but I enjoy the sport of manual sniping. Just wondering if anybody else lost out.

My ebay home page was all messed up when I just checked recently. It showed I lost a set that I sniped. I fiddled around the sight, then I went back to my e-mail to see if I had won. I did, so then went back on e-bay and everything was back to normal................must have been those darn solar flares.

The sniping services have been great to me...
except last week there was a PSA 9 1975 louie dampier that I really needed... it's the last dampier I needed to complete the player run..
and I had some obscene amount of money to snipe it with...
well, auctionsniper screwed up and the card ended up selling for $22.00~
so.... maybe a combination of both sniping and esniping is a good plan...

I lost about 8 auctions in January because snipes weren't placed. I emailed my snipe service, telling them how upset I was. They told me to place my snipe orders twice. Although it's a minor inconvenience, I now place two snipes for every auction I'm interested in. If the first one goes through, the second is just rejected as "not meeting minimum bid". If not, the second one will hopefully do the trick.
I have not lost one auction (at least due to snipe error) since. Try it. It works.

ydsotter - If there's a card that I "just have to have",
I'll put in a bid with my sniping service, but I'll also put in a manual bid for a little bit less.
To eBay, it just looks like two bids from one bidder, so you don't end up paying any more.

I had oput in a manual bid once on a item I also snipe because it was close to the end and I thought I might miss out, I did not think Ebay would take both bids, but when my snipe bid came in with 4 seconds left it overtook my manual bid. When I checked bid history at the end of the auction, I had the last 2 bids. I outbid myself by the minimum, check bid history on Ebay #2708122194.

Nuyauwka,
Your first bid was not high enough to outbid tleppyredsox' bid of $40.01, so your snipe bid was placed and covered the minimum bid increment ($1.00 in this case). You didn't outbid yourself, your original high bid just shows up because it was less than the necessary high bid.
Hope that makes sense.

If you need something, better bid your max now.
I was checking out some 54 topps hockey cards, it showed 2 hours left, clicked on the auction, and it was over.
EBAY explanation
Thanks for clearing that up, that confused me at the time. All sorts of trouble tonight with Ebay, I just had 2 auctions not go through, but luckily they did not get bid on and I was able to contact the seller and purchase the card. One card was a PSA 8 1971 OPC Orr All/Star, I would of been pretty hot if I missed it. I got it at hte opening bid which was 66% of book..So all is well!!
<< <i>Jeb, do you get charged twice from your sniper service for placing 2 bids? >>
Wabbitwax,
I forgot that some services charge per snipe (or a % of winning bids). The service I use has a flat monthly fee.
