Grade my 1972 Ike

Got this for $3, it's one of the Type II varieties and I'm thinking of getting it slabbed by ANACS or NGC. Which one will attribute this and what do you think it would grade.

I think ANACS would give the Type 2 designation, but I'm not sure about NGC but don't think they recognize these yet. I would guess MS62 based on the pic.

ANACS MS62 on yours. Just a guess, but ANACS likes the MS62 grade for Ikes with varieties.

OT: I'm a little PO'ed with Teletrade. I had two in the older PCGS holders, both MS64 1972 Ikes like yours. I wrote on the submission they were both TYPE II's and to please include that info with the auction. Did they?

    Of course not.
What's confusing is if I make money, Teletrade makes money.
    Go figure.

Well, a couple collectors walked away from that auction with good deals!

MS63, harder to tell through the plastic flip.

I'm guessing MS63 from the photo unless the portrait is cleaner than it looks. Nice strike/luster for the date though.

The bad news is it's a Type 3, not a Type 2. And the Type 3 is the easiest in high grade, so not worth slabbing unless it has a shot at MS65.

It might go 64 for the strike/luster. It would go much higher if those marks
on the cheek were actually on the plastic.

It really has to be special to get a 65 these days from PCGS. I'll guess it's a 64. I agree with Supercoin, it doesn,t appear to be a TII.

My vote, MS62 to MS62+ but I do agree that it has nice luster.

Sorry, my bad, I meant Type III, not II.

Thanks everyone, I'll guess MS62 as well.

As Tad pointed out, it is the type 3 variety.

BRADDICK.....I wish I had known about your coins, I would have bid on both of them. image
