Please read this old thread to find the grade LINK. I still think this coin has room to go up. Maybe I will crack it out and try NGC? This coin will never leave my possesion so an increase of value by a higher number does not really matter but it would be kind of neat to get it up-graded each time. The grade was sure guessed low in the original thread at the beggining. mike
I am alittle surprised by a 63 grade. I think this illustrates a point I was trying to make on another thread about buying the coin because you find it high end for thr grade... not because it is in the holder of TPG company X. Darktone, it is a nice coin and no one can really dispute that...

For those that don't want to take the time to read the other thread ANACS graded it MS63 but I cracked it and sent it to PCGS and they graded it MS64.
coinkat- thanks for the kind words
RYK- I wish I could find more 63's like this also and I have found more undergraded gold coins by ANACs including several in my own collection graded in the same time period but most are common dates that a point or two in grade will not bring any significate value increase to make it worth regrading. On a side note I just sent an ACG $5 ms63 liberty crackout to NGC that looks good enough to get a 63 I'll let you know how it goes. mike
I recently sent three gold coins to ANACS, one $2.50 and two $20's. All were "family coins", generic coins that were given to me by relatives. I thought it would be good just to have them encapsulated, and why not, graded. I have never before submitted to a grading service and felt that this was a good way to test my grading skills and get a feel for the process.
I am not surprised that it was upgraded to MS64... it should have received that grade without any doubts the first time. Thanks for sharing this with us because it really provides insight that perhaps not all collectors experience.
