Probably a good thing since I have very little confidence in that toning. I have a morgan bagged by PCGS as questionable toning that looks better but I still can't decide which way I think it is, either.
Lori, the best advice I can give you is to stop trying to decide whether coins are "AT" or "Real"
Instead, decide where a particular coin you are contemplating falls within the range of
"looks natural and looks like it took a long time and wasn't manipulated much, and if it was, it was done expertly" which charactaristic is generally eye appeal and therefore value- enhancing
and
"looks really artificial and looks like it took a few minutes for the hack doctor to paint or bake this color on this coin" which characteristic generally has a negative affect on eye appeal and value to experienced collectors
I realize that you are trying to learn, and that's why you post various coins, but its frustrating exercise until one realizes that most of the coins we encounter fall somewhere in between.
this example coin, to me, looks like the toning was accelerated, but not haphazardly, and it is a fairly attractive coin if not super gem. so to me it is not AT and it is not REAL. it is "realish" or if we must have a number, looks more than 50% and less than 100% real, so I'll give it a 6 out of 10.
premium over the same technical quality coin in white? heh, now THAT is up to the buyer.
personally, I think you were right not to bid higher than $100
